Compressed air cannons
The use of compressed air cannons is particularly recommended for silos, bunkers and other containers filled with bulk material that is difficult to drain. Activated pneumatically or electro-pneumatically, the compressed air cannons emit an explosive blast of compressed air along the inner wall of containers or silos. Compressed air cannons are particularly suitable for bulk solids tending to form strong vents, as they destroy vents and bridges permanently.

A phenomenon that frequently occurs in silos and bins with bulk material having certain characteristics (for example, moist sand) is the formation of a vent. Due to the physical and chemical product properties, the central column of material collapses abruptly at the moment the silo flap is opened, while the surrounding material remains motionless. Particularly in the case of light bulk weights, the PG series compressed air cannons are in many cases the best solution for problems of this kind. Another application concerns silos or polygonal bins, where neither beaters nor other vibrators can be considered due to internals or tiled discharge chutes. Compressed air cannons are also successfully used when the bulk material bridges in the hopper area of the silo. A possible alternative to compressed air cannons are our VBS and VBSI Vibration Aerators.
Application
As a discharge aid in case of strong venting and bridging in bunkers, hoppers, bins and silos.
Function
PG series air cannons can be activated either purely pneumatically or electro-pneumatically. They deliver a high-pressure quantity of air directly to the product inside the container, thus triggering an explosion effect. The vent walls or material bridges are caused to collapse. Our compressed air cannons can be equipped with an automatic working time-pause control, which enables self-sufficient operation. The time intervals can be set by the user in the range of seconds to several minutes.
Pressure/Temperature
The compressed air cannons are operated with 3 to 6 bar compressed air. By throttling the air supply, the released compressed air blast can be increased/decreased and adapted to the application.
The operating temperature range is -20°C to +80°C.
